PORTFOLIO

Read the tool’s page and explore. There’s a ton in there.

The control allows for a proxy to be assigned to a single tab or an entire session (indicated by multiple tabs of the same color).

It’s specifically interesting for local SEO.

4. User-Agent Switcher.

The biggest reason I switched to Ghost Browser is for what they call “sessions.”

There is virtually no way I could cover all the features, functions, and uses of Chrome Developer Tools in this article.

Ghost Browser is built on Chrome so everything available to you there is available in Ghost Browser… and more.

There is a pro version. I found it worth the investment based on my usage, you may not.

You can run multiple tabs for each session.

In fact, some of the most important tools in my arsenal are my browser and its extensions.

As illustrated in the image above, the tool allows you to hover over and select an element on a given webpage and it will display its code and (in this case) the computed output characteristics.

7. Ghost Proxy Control.

However, most of those require subscriptions, are too similar to one of those noted above, or don’t apply to the duties of virtually every SEO pro I know.

The free version supports three sessions at a time – so even it is three times better than what you’re likely currently working with.

So, for example, I can be logged into one session as me to manage an AdWords campaign but also logged in through a different account to access the client’s analytics and Search Console (where they aren’t controlled by the same account).

Similarly, each session can be used to log into different social accounts, etc.

Perfect when you need just some limited info or are on a phone call and need to pull up some core metrics.

6. Show Title Tag.

This is extremely helpful when developing new sites – especially when that site is built using less predictable technologies.

The tool is built into Chrome and is accessed via Chrome Menu > More tools > Developer tools.

The Ghost Proxy Control extension comes pre-loaded with Ghost Browser.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve used it to troubleshoot crawl issues or uncover differences in how Googlebot is viewing a page versus a browser.

But most SEO professionals take it a step further and use those same browsers to do a lot more.

It can also be handy when you simply need to identify issues with analytics or other tracking codes (AdWords, etc.)

If you want to set a reader-friendly URL, enter one in the Page Settings.

SEO specialists, this is for you: to edit the canonical URL, go to the Page Settings → Facebook and SEO → Customize search resutls preview. There you may add a canonical URL to the page.

You don’t need to do anything else.

Go to the Site Settings → SEO → SEO Assistant → View.

The H1 header carries the most weight in determining your website’s rankings in the search results. Add it to the top of the page. Add the tag in the settings of any block that has a title tag.

Click on Check pages again to see which pages require your attention.

An alternative tag (alt tag) is displayed in place of an image if the image cannot be displayed (when the internet connection is slow, for example).

Click on any page’s title to open the editor where you can fix the errors.

Use SEO Assistant to see what errors are affecting the indexing of your website; test the website for compliance with the search engines’ main recommendations; set up page redirects; download favicons, and configure the HTTPS settings.

A user-friendly URL consists of words that are easy to read, not just a system address. For example, replace “/page4652188.html” with “/about.” Such URLs are user-friendly as they let website visitors guess the contents of a page.

If your page opens at “https://mysite.com” and “http://mysite.com,” the search engines recognise them as two different pages with duplicate content. This may lower the page’s ranking in search results.

What’s more, search engines view an alt tag as keywords and take them into account when indexing a website. Write the alt tag in a way that is relevant to your website’s content in general and describes the image.

Here’s what a user-friendly URL may look like: http://mysite.com/about.

Write a header tag (H1) for the most important header.

You may upload a favicon only in the .ico format .

If you have the same content on several pages with different URLs, one of these pages should be designated as “canonical,” meaning it should contain the tag rеl=”canonical.” Search engines will take it as a signal to treat this page as authoritative and disregard the duplicate pages.

A favicon is a small image that represents your website or one of its pages. Favicons are displayed before the title of the page in the browser’s address bar; they can also appear as an image next to a bookmark, in tabs, and other interface elements.

Any website made on Tilda has a service address that looks like this: http://project12345255.tilda.ws. When you connect your own domain (http://mysite.com) and publish all pages, your domain will automatically become the main URL (it acquires the rеl=”canonical” link). A service address can still be displayed in your browser but search engines will ignore it—unlike the canonical page with a custom domain.

To change the icon that appears in the browser tab, go to the Site Settings → SEO → Favicons → Manage.

If you’re using HTTPS, redirect your readers from HTTP to HTTPS. Go to the Site Settings → SEO → WWW, HTTPS Redirects.
