PORTFOLIO

This depends on a number of factors, so the answer is apt to change from one website to the next. Major factors include: how competitive is your market/niche? Will you commit to the content marketing (blogging) schedule I outline in the final SEO doc? How much traffic do you currently have? Are you engaged in social media channels and how many followers do you have? On average, clients begin to see traffic increasing in 2-3 months when they follow the steps outlined in the final SEO doc for growing the SEO snowball. In a nutshell, my Squarespace SEO Service optimizes everything that can be optimized on your current site framework, and then outlines a game plan moving forward with steps you need to take to keep building momentum.

Payment for SEO services on already existing Squarespace sites is due upfront to both schedule and perform the project. This is because you already own the website and therefore you inherently own the work as I perform it. Whereas a web design + SEO project requires a 50% deposit and the remaining balance is paid upon completion because I own the site until the final payment is received in that scenario.

No design changes are made during the Squarespace SEO service. But site recommendations are listed in the SEO doc, and often involve design updates for a site that better engages visitors.

“How long before i see results?”

“This website has brought in more biz than all my other websites (dating back to 1990) combined.”

When performed on a standard website (up to 7 pages), it usually takes 4 days from the start date to complete the project. If your site has an unusual amount of image files, as in the case of photographers and interior designers, it could take a bit longer.

Good SEO = Brand Growth.

Once you give me the green light, I’ll send over a contract and invoice to your email inbox. You’ll need to complete both of those before the project can be officially scheduled. Once those are both completed, I’ll add you to my calendar. If you haven’t already filled out the questionnaire, I’ll have you do that. You’ll also need to invite me as an Admin contributor to your site for the duration of the project. Then, on the start date, I’ll organize a Google Drive folder which will include the SEO doc I’ll be creating throughout the service as well as my Work Log so you can check in each day on my doings and progress.

“when is payment due?”

“do you make any design changes to my site?”

All Squarespace Domains and third-party domains include free SSL certificates when connected and pointing to Squarespace sites. This is an SEO best practice, as sites that aren’t SSL-secured may be penalized in search engine rankings.

Squarespace automatically generates and links a proper sitemap.xml, which enumerates every URL and image metadata on your site with proper priority for perfect indexing. For more information, visit Your site map.

As the host for millions of websites for over a decade, we’ve implemented various strategies to help your site appear in search engine results. Squarespace has the technical side covered for you—there’s no need to search for plugins or get under the hood.

Automatic tagging.

Squarespace automatically adds meta tags to your site from these SEO settings:

AMP, or, Accelerated Mobile Pages, creates lightweight versions of web pages to help them load faster on a mobile device. AMP works with Google to prioritize results in mobile searches.

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is the process of improving your site’s ranking in search results. While the factors search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo use to rank sites are kept secret and change frequently, we build all known SEO best practices into every Squarespace site.

Squarespace structures product information so Google can display additional information in rich search results. These search results can include the product name, a product image, description, price range, availability, and product URL.

HTML <meta> tags in a site’s code help search engines identify a site’s titles and page descriptions. Meta titles and descriptions may appear in search results, depending on what visitors are searching for.

It’s not possible to edit or remove this data.

Clean HTML Markup.

You can check the Search keywords panel to see which search terms drive traffic to your site from Google, Bing, and other search engines. Understanding which search keywords result in the most clicks to your site can help you focus your content and continue to improve your search strategies.

Squarespace includes fields for editing your site’s search engine and page descriptions. These might appear below your site title in search results depending on the search terms used.

All Squarespace sites are built for clean indexing by search engines. However, your content and how you use these features are up to you. For more on Squarespace’s SEO-friendly features and how to use them, visit Increasing your site’s visibility to search engines. You can also sign up for an expert-led webinar on growing your audience.

Images contain proper <alt> and <title> tags, improving search engine indexing. All meta tags for pages and <link> tags for RSS feeds are automatically generated. Image descriptions are converted to <alt> tags.

SSL certificates.

Here are some SEO-friendly features built into every Squarespace site:

If you have multiple domains, Squarespace will redirect users and search engines to a primary domain and use rel=”canonical” to fix these references. To learn more, visit Multiple domains and SEO.

Squarespace produces pages with clean HTML markup that is indexable by search engines. There’s no need to add <h1> and <h2> tags in HTML. Just select a Heading style, and those tags are created for you.

All pages and collection items on your site have static URLs that are easily indexed and read by search engines.

Google’s technology gives mobile-optimized sites a higher priority in search results. As such, all mobile-friendly Squarespace sites are also search-engine friendly. As long as you don’t disable mobile styles or overload your site with too much content, your site is ready to be found in mobile searches.
